Journey Of The Founders
In 1975, Anthony Brooke (1912 – 2011) and Gita Brooke (1931 – 2020) co-founded Peace Through Unity (PTU) in Sweden. Soon after in 1978, they embarked upon a lengthy 10-year period of world travel on their personal spiritual quest to continue their pursuit of promoting right human relations.
In 1987 Anthony & Gita were granted residency in New Zealand and Peace Through Unity became a registered Charitable Trust in New Zealand, based in Whanganui. It is an accredited Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) in association with the United Nations Department of Global Communications.
Anthony & Gita have devoted their lives to promote the mission of Peace Through Unity and assist in the creation of a culture of peace between all living beings through education in its widest sense. They have vested their home ‘Te Rangi’ at 4 Allison Street in the Peace Through Unity Charitable Trust so that the house, its contents, and the garden may be used by the Community to continue the work and to serve as a place of peace .
